Hearts of Fire

A reclusive musician, once a huge rock star, takes a young female protegee. While on a tour she meets a younger, more popular rocker and switches her loyalties.

Celebrate 'Bob Dylan Day'! The 62nd anniversary of the date Robert Zimmerman legally changed his name to Bob Dylan. August 1, 1962.

Hearts of Fire was partially shot in Hamilton in 1987, and features a scene filmed at the Playhouse Cinema! Look out for Bob Dylan driving his truck past the old Playhouse Marquee, reading 'Pat Garrett & Billy the Kid', the 1973 film which featured Bob Dylan in a small role.

* This film will be screened from a LaserDisc *

Budding rocker Molly (Fiona) meets rock star Billy (Bob Dylan), goes with him to England and meets another singer (Rupert Everett).

"'I always knew I was one of those rock ‘n’ roll singers that was never gonna win any Nobel Prize,' Dylan’s character disparagingly says, while expounding on the pitfalls of fame. In retrospect – a fascinating quote. The movie Hearts of Fire was probably not part of the selection committee’s reason to award Dylan the 2016 Nobel Prize in Literature. It is worth seeing, though, to witness a visual time capsule of the mid-1980s and to watch Bob Dylan walk the movie path so often trod by Elvis." - Something Else Reviews

Bob Dylan, Cappriccio Cafe, seen in the background, was a popular Italian cafe next door to the Playhouse in the 70s and 80s. It is now a private residence. Right, a Playhouse reader box displays 'Pat Garret and Billy the Kid'.
